Financial Analyst, Operations

DSC Logistics, a leading supply chain management company with a nationwide network, focuses on supply chain capabilities that are adaptable, versatile and based on changing customer needs. DSC services include supply chain analysis and design, strategic solutions-based consulting, business process integration, process improvement and management of logistics operations, such as warehousing, transportation, packaging and fulfillment. In today’s business environment, filled with rapid and unpredictable change, DSC manages change and information in the supply chain by being ready for anything!  

We currently have an opportunity for a Financial Analyst at our corporate office in Des Plaines, IL.  Responsibilities of the Financial Analyst include:

  • Lead the monthly financial reporting process for DSC operations.  This includes:
    • Working closely with finance team members and other DSC groups to compile a comprehensive financial reporting package
    • Ensuring operating results are supported by insightful commentary and analyses
    • Contributing to the continuous improvement of reported information
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to provide strong process support for the annual operating budget and contribute to overall budget process success
  • Provide financial leadership to DSC operations and other functions for select DSC customers.  This includes:
    • Participating in the monthly financial close process to ensure integrity of financial results
    • Providing insightful analyses & explanations of actual results
    • Developing customer centered projections, analyses, and financial support as required
  • Complete special projects and other analyses as required by the business
  • Contribute to the successful completion of Operations Finance department goals

Candidates selected to interview must meet the following minimum requirements for consideration for this position:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related area
  • 2-4 years financial planning and analysis experience, knowledge of logistics operations a plus
  • Process orientation
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Motivated self starter who can effectively prioritize activities, manage tight timelines and work in a fast paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger; JD Edwards experience a plus
