DSC Logistics, an integrated logistics and supply chain management company, headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, focuses on supply chain capabilities that are based on changing customer needs. DSC services include logistics center management, transportation management and synchronization, business process integration, and information technology services. We currently have an opportunity for a Transportation Planner in our Transportation Center at our corporate office in Des Plaines, IL.  Responsibilities of the position are to:

• Review and analyze orders optimized by DSC’s load planning system, intervening when necessary to ensure effective execution
• Monitors operational activity to ensure it is executed in a timely and efficient manner
• Ensure daily shipping plan is created and distributed to multiple origin points nationally 
• Act as liaison for day-to-day tactical execution between logistics centers, carriers, customer service and the Transportation Center
• Collect all DSC logistics centers’ shippable orders and create a shipping plan for each center using TMS Optimization software on a daily basis
• Proactively maintain communication between DSC and its customers’ receiving departments ensuring no lapses in contact
• Aid in resolving delivery issues
• Communicate at the operational level between the Transportation Center, its carrier base, and shippers to ensure timely pick-up and delivery appointments and service issues
• Work with various internal groups (DSC’s transportation teams) to provide timely and accurate feedback regarding carriers’ performance and other issues which may arise

Candidates selected to interview must meet the following minimum requirements for consideration for this position:

• 1-3 years in a transportation planner or similar role
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field 
• Demonstrated understanding of a transportation optimization program and operating system
• General understanding of warehousing, inventory, order fulfillment, and customer service functions
• Strong analytical/problem solving skills
• Ability to generate new ideas and drive change
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
• Strong computer system experience including Microsoft Word, Excel, and AS400
