Combining all the right ingredients for success
During the holiday baking season, things tend to heat up for ACH Food Companies. Demand for their product (corn syrup, corn oil and cornstarch) increases, and so do the challenges of keeping the product flowing smoothly through their supply chain.
At our West Coast Logistics Center, DSC Logistics, in collaboration with ACH, meets those challenges effectively and creatively.
- To start with, we configured the warehouse space for maximum efficiency. Based on ACH’s profile, DSC engineers, using DSC’s sophisticated directed putaway system, optimized space requirements by utilizing bulk locations to their fullest, and placing only low stackability items in the racks.
- Plus, our Warehouse Management System (WMS) provides the necessary flexibility and visibility.
- And, our employees are trained to be multi-dimensional thinkers, prepared to manage the demands of the quick-moving capture, carry, maintain, release, pick and load process.
Because ACH elects to hold outbound shipments to accommodate inbound, the contents in the inbound trailers must satisfy the outbound orders. DSC looks to proactively understand what’s inside the inbound trailers so they can be positioned in the warehouse where they can be unloaded and staged for a quick turnaround. Each trailer is positioned in a specific dock location with room to transfer or cross dock the product, reducing travel time. This accelerates placement in the outbound trailer and expedites delivery.
DSC acts as a shock absorber, in a sense, structuring a solution that accelerates movement of the delayed product. It also results in disciplined inventory with positive results in product control and security.
DSC’s solution for ACH is the perfect recipe…for any season.
