DSC Insights: April 2019

In the April edition of DSC Insights, transportation trends seem to be holding steady with only subtle changes to capacity and cost so far month-over-month. Though the market has been relatively stable, looming influencers such as potential tariffs, infrastructure initiatives, the approaching hurricane season and macroeconomics demand the supply chain industry be poised for the next potential shift.

Ken Heller, DSC’s Chief Transportation Officer, explained, “During this relatively stable period, DSC is preparing for change by focusing on visibility-enabling technology and customer experience enhancements. We are layering in predictive analytics to be braced for the next potential shift.” Heller added, “With hurricane season approaching, we are using this time to fortify carrier relationships in case of market tightening and proactively racking up as many service and cost merits as we can now to offset potential threats to future performance.”
