Partner Forum explores innovation at DSC and the vision for the future

With a focus on innovation and the customer experience, the recent Partner Forum sponsored by DSC Logistics brought together DSC and CJ Logistics leaders, representatives from some of DSC’s key customers, and other industry professionals.

Ed Bowersox, DSC President, and Sung Yup Suh, DSC Executive Vice President opened the Forum by presenting the company’s strategic vision. “Our vision is to become the leading integrated global supply chain innovator,” Bowersox said.

A panel of customer representatives talked about what it takes to deliver an outstanding customer experience and the crucial role that innovation plays, agreeing that an innovative workplace encourages input from all levels of the organization. Forum participants appreciated the customer input. “It was great to hear directly from the other companies working with DSC,” one said. Another panel discussed trends in transportation, talent, commercial real estate and retail compliance currently impacting the supply chain industry.

In an interactive session looking at how organizations can improve the customer experience by leveraging the digital enablement of their supply chains, DSC’s experts shared updates on the DSC/CJ technology platform and roadmap. “We leverage Business Intelligence and analytics to translate patterns and possibilities, helping our customers make decisions and forecast,” said Mary Wyderski, Vice President, IT.

A session on Innovation at DSC, focused on implementing TES (Technology, Engineering, Systems and Solutions), explored some of the emerging technologies and pilots across the DSC network – solutions to enable unmanned inventory movement, and to enhance loading and unloading floor loaded containers and ecommerce picking operations, for example – and what the access to technology enhancement and automation means for customers.

DSC and CJ leaders also covered what they’ve learned so far about expanded capabilities in the areas of cross-border operations, international freight forwarding and asset-based trucking, to name a few, that DSC, joining with CJ, can offer to strategic partner customers. They shared their vision and the planned next steps for expanded services in areas such as cold chain and e-commerce.

Calling the topics “spot on,” Forum participants welcomed the focus on learning for attendees and commented on the value of connecting with other supply chain professionals. According to one participant, “it was a lot of value in a single day.”
