DSC Board member Nancy Nix profiled in CSCMP’s Supply Chain Quarterly

Nancy Nix, DSC Logistics Advisory Board member, is profiled in the Q4 issue of Supply Chain Quarterly, a publication of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).

In “The power of saying ‘yes,’” Nix shares her own experiences and emphasizes the value of being open to new opportunities. The article’s headline echoes her remarks when she received CSCMP’s 2017 Distinguished Service Award at the organization’s annual conference: “When people give career advice, they often tell you that you need to learn to say no,” she said. “I am here to tell you about the power of saying yes.”

In the article, Nix talks of being a single mother taking on a new job in a new location, and realizing she was capable of more than she knew. She describes her “adventure of a lifetime”: leaving a 15-year career with an old, well-established company to live and work for much smaller, family-owned business in India, a country she had never visited.Drawing from her experiences, she gives advice: “Have confidence in yourself! You’re capable of more than you realize. Don’t say no because you don’t think you’re 100 percent ready.”

The former Executive Director of AWESOME (Achieving Women’s Excellence in Supply Chain Operations, Management, and Education), Nix asserts that now is a wonderful time for women in supply chain because companies are recognizing the importance of diversity at all levels of leadership and making the changes necessary for that to happen. She says, “I encourage young women in our field to recognize the significant contributions they can bring to their organizations,” and urges them to have confidence in their capabilities, and be the architects of their own careers.
